  • What’s more, thinking about these probably evokes images of bright lights, clubs and partying all night long. Alexander Price is a man that certainly brings light to these images.

“In The City” is the first segment of Alexander Price’s new release, which has seen the man himself collaborate with acclaimed producer Andrew Friendly of ‘Ministry of Sound Ibiza’  fame. The track  starts with a chirpy upbeat electronic beat with Price singing about constraints and escaping, “I’ve had enough of having no freedom, I’ve had enough of suburbia’s reasons.” The electronic club beat compliments these lyrics perfectly before building up into a chorus which can’t help but take the listener back to the sounds of the late ninties/early noughties.

The second  track ‘I Love Your Music’ is barely recognisable from the former track on the release. Think dirty bass beats mixed with robotic voices and a grungy electronic sound, creating a dirty underground feel, which encapsulates the feeling of ‘The City’ perfectly.

Overall, the release is one filled with club beats and often upbeat digital noises. Its sometimes clean and cheerful sound contrasted with the darker moments within the tracks certainly captures both essences of the city in a seriously effective way.
