V Festival veto Muse spaceship

August 15, 2008 by CMU Daily

V Festival organisers have put a stop to Muse’s plan to bring a spaceship on stage when they headline the festival this weekend, because there’s no money to be made out of it. Um, or it contravenes health and safety. One of those things.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy said: “Health and Safety are as usual ruining it all. I’m not sure V are quite prepared for us. We’ve redesigned the whole stage and we’re bringing in loads of props that won’t be on stage but around the venue”.

First Wembley. Now this. When are Muse going to forget about elaborate stage props and get back to, you know, writing consitent albums? We haven’t had one since 2001..

I love them like no other band but come on! Wembley was an overproduced bore with possibly the most pedestrian setlist anyone could’ve chose. I’m surprised they played Stockholm Syndrome. After V I seriously hope they ditch the record company pleasing guff, not to mention that crap they did with Skinner, just write some massive riffs and keep the old guard happy!

The above is referencing the DVD, not the gig.

haha, to be fair the skinner thing was only ever meant to be a bit of a laugh; unfortunately one that thousands of people heard. They don’t exactly need to please the record company I wouldn’t have thought, they’ve never been leaned on before; but yeah a couple of meatier numbers on the next album please! And also, the DVD’s bollocks, poor representation of what was a great gig
