New releases by band with weird names: New releases from Sic Alps & Eat Skull
No Comments »

New albums are on the horizonby Sic Alps (www.sicalps.com) and Eat Skull (myspace.com/eatskull), both on legendary lo-fi label Siltbreeze (www.siltbreeze.com) who released Guided By Voices, The Dead C, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments, Times New Viking, Psychedelic Horsesh*t etc etc. ‘U.S. EZ’ is the fourth long-player in the Sic Alps canon (excluding the recent singles comp CD, A Long Way Around to a Shortcut), and their first for the Siltbreeze label

Fans of last year’s amazing Description of the Harbor LP will not be disappointed, especially if they want to hear Side A’s cosmic concrete creak, forged with the trebly, high-end neo-glam pop of Side B. Like their brethren and forebears, Eat Skull runs a post pattern deep beyond pop and punk. They bring to the game an extrasensory appreciation of New Zealand’s South Island Sound (Great Unwashed, Axemen), Cleveland art-damage skronk (Modern Art Studio, X-X), and the wretched excess of forgotten Midwest hardcore (Stiff Legged Sheep, Chemotherapy).
