The Manta Raya - MySpace Tracks

Maradona, dirty tackles, knocking England out of the world Cup, cool new rave bands….cool new rave bands?! No, not normally one of the things that spring to mind when you think of Argentina, that was until Manta Raya came along mind!

These three visual arts students who got together in 2002 have grafted their way up the live show ladder and crafted their sound to a fine point. With a debut album entitled ‘Yeah!’ immanent, the timing couldn’t be better as it will catch the new rave wave at its crest.

Where CSS have succeeded, surely Manta Raya will follow. With a very similar sound but bags more Peaches-esque attitude and a sex-on-a-stick front woman who would steal Lovefoxx’s groupies all day long with just one pout!

Shit hot songs with deep sexual tones, portrayed so sensually by front woman Mecha, it’s enough to make you fall in love with her at first listen “..he can fuck, I love the way he kiss and plays guitar” Their sound has more attitude than B.A. Barracas on a bad hair day. Deep, grimy techno synths and seething guitars, head bangingly catchy drum machine beats and sullied bass lines.

If their demos are just a taster, then their full album ‘Yeah!’ should catapult Manta Raya to the top of the new rave league. Forget what CSS told you, don’t “make love and listen to death from above”, make love and listen to Manta Raya! Like Diego’s hand through an English defence, they’re coming and no one’s gonna stop them!
