The Victorian English Gentleman’s Club @ Old Blue Last, London

June 28, 2007 by Martin Kendrick

One hour late, but well worth the wait - Cardiff’s bouncing three piece finally get chance to take their headline slot, and take it by the scruff of the neck right from the off they most certainly did.Powering out their trademark trios of harmonic howls with nonsense less efficiency. Louise Masons regimental bass lines are as driving and precise as her piercing stare and high vocal stabs. Emma Damans drums pounded from start to finish, after handing out a seemingly endless supply of sticks to any willing participants. Adam Taylor was a man on a mission, foot to the floor driving the club through a time restricted set with adrenaline pumped urgency. Filthy guitar sound and powerful shrilling all the way.

There was no messing round and they made their point and left their mark, without doubt an excellent live band with enchanting stage presence and a fabulous body of songs. A huge wall of energetic sound, from three perfectly complimenting and tuned in elements, a band entirely in their element when on stage and they put on one hell of a show.
