In Case of Fire - This Time We Stand
October 11, 2008 by Chris Walton
In Case of Fire have created more than a stir or even a ripple recently, their sudden explosion on to the scene with an immensely well crafted sound has won them critical acclaim across the board and support slots for many bigger bands such as 30 Seconds to Mars, Queens of the Stone Age and even Funeral for a Friend this month.
Hailing from Ireland, this band game to my personal attention when supporting 30 Seconds to Mars, and when an unsigned support band can completely blow away the headlining band you know there’s something special. I followed their progress since, catching them at Leeds Festival (I would easily award them ‘band of the weekend’ award’) and seeing how much more powerful they had become in the months since February was staggering. Steven Robinson’s voice cannot be faltered, on record or on stage.
With the debut single, ‘This Time We Stand’ releasing next month, In Case of Fire have set themselves up perfectly for an amazing 2009. The song opens with drums, and then a balls-out riff reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine and early Muse, this is an audible kick to the nuts that will make you sit up and listen. The power doesn’t fade away after the opening, if one riff wasn’t enough this song easily has four or five - all of which are perfectly crafted to make you want more.
With layer upon layer of guitar and vocals, bass tones to make gear-heads trousers get tights and drums powerful enough to move mountains, this energetic track will please mosh pits in many venues, and may even become a rock club favourite.
My advice to you is to turn your attention to this band, because if you don’t, they will take it with undeniable force.
The official video for the single is currently in the Audioscribbler video playlist widget, so treat yourself to a listen.
