Le Corps Mince De Francoise - Bitch of The Bitches
November 8, 2008 by Stacy Reeve
Staring at the press release its confusing where to even begin when faced with a band who nationality is as messed up as their songs; fear not there will be no patriotism here, in fact it’s gone out the window when you realise this band’s a French named, Scandinavian based trio of all girl ravers. Strikingly similar to Brazilian Cansei De Ser Sexy (due to their shared punky electronic and pop infused sounds) Le Corps Mince De Francoise (LCMDF for short) are about to hit the scenes of Europe after great success in Finland.
So what does Le Corps Mince De Francoise actually mean? It means ‘The Slim Body of Francoise’ which, again, makes no sense but what else do you expect? Forming in 2007 the girls have made a name for themselves both online and off, with popularity growing online with the help of social networking sites Facbook and Myspace and blogs which helped the band earn a top spot on Hype Machine, unbelievably in a position higher than Kanye West. Offline it’s their dazzling shows that are a performance in their own right: energetic, sensational and highly stylized.
Releasing single ‘Bitch of the Bitches’ it is clear they want to make an impact upon their listeners and although instant comparisons can be made between the likes of CSS and Robyn it appears that LCMDF are rocking a rather Gwen Stefani post No Doubt sound, think the Harajuku girls mingled with the backing track of ‘What you waiting for?’What is most striking about all of this is the realisation that the world is getting smaller, its blatant proof when you’re listening to a band from Scandinavia with a French name and singing in English. Just don’t forget which country you’re from.
